flyygirl book

Hi Omar,
I hope all is well.  Just writing to congratulate you on crafting yet another insightful, thought-provoking, timely and entertaining novel!!    You never disappoint!
I finished "What They Want" shortly after my trip to New York. I particularly liked how you allowed Terrance to evolve throughout the book--from ultimate player to insatiable woman-pleaser to loving father and attentive companion.  You touched on quite a few prevalent topics (commitment-phobia, interracial dating or curiosity, celibacy, alternative childbirth methods, lesbianism, the down-low phenomenon, procreation decisions, etc.) and intertwined them with Terrance's life with ease.  In addition, you illuminated the complexities of such a man's life and traced his journey to a much clearer and simpler perspective.  Discovering who you are-- what your needs, desires and values are--should be a prerequisite to establishing a successful relationship and followed by adequate communication, cooperation, and consideration among partners.  True-to-life lessons to live by.
I'll be sure to periodically check your web site for info on your future projects.  Thanks again for "the heat", cause you know that was the only way my Judi/Michelle/Geneva like-self was gonna get any (smile)!
Take care, Cheryl

What They Want Terrance Mitchell had no plan at all to ever settle down. For what? Being single was freedom, where relationships were bonding. Nor did he have any plans for a family; what, with snotty-nosed kids running around, cramping his style, and eating for free? To hell with all of that.
Terrance loved his life as is. He was a well-traveled, good looking, male model in an industry full of insatiable and insecure women. Beautiful women. Women who adored him. He liked it that way. And he had become accustomed to it.
Then it happened. One of his beautiful women fell over the coockoo's nest and shattered his peace of mind. From then on, Terrance could never again lead the blind mice with his flute without feeling guilty about it.
He realized that women had a purpose for him. They had dreams and aspirations that included his participation. Of course, a man in his position, constantly surrounded by beautiful women, would know this already. But just because he knew what women wanted didn't mean he was capable or willing to give it to them. Nevertheless, Terrance felt inspired to try.
Fourteen novels and counting, award-winning, New York Time's bestselling author, Omar Tyree, continues to give us memorable characters and great storylines in his action-packed, thought-provoking creations. What They Want is yet another well-conceived, human case study to add to his growing list of classic urban literature.
